The success of Moab as a mountain biking mecca has pushed trail development to the surrounding areas. The most recognized suburb is located about 100 miles northeast, just across the Utah-Colorado border. Fruita, CO is 12 miles west of Grand Junction and has several areas for the fun loving mountain biker. The Kokopelli Loop Trails are located just off Interstate 70 and have rides for all skill levels. The Horsethief Bench takes the mountain biker along a mesa and comes within a few yards of the edge, below which lies the Colorado River.

Linking these loops together can be an all day adventure, taking the rider off rock ledges and along sheer ridge lines. For the serious multi-day adventure, continue on the Kokopelli Trail following the Colorado River for 145 miles through a desolate area into Moab, UT.
